«Ysla» heisst das neue Album von Yumi Ito, worauf sie und ihre Band virtuos durch die Fluten von Klängen, Grooves und Improvisationen manövrieren. Als Kompass dient eine einzigartige Gesangsimprovisation, welche Ito in tiefen Selbstreflektionen zu einer Art «universellen», überall verständlichen Sprache weiterentwickelt hat. Thematisch dreht sich das Werk derweil um Einsamkeit & Trennung, Weltuntergang und Neugeburt. «Ysla» (VÖ 14.04.2023 via enja records) ist aus all diesen Gründen nicht einfach das fünfte Album von Yumi Ito unter eigenem Namen geworden, sondern markiert einen neuen Höhepunkt in ihrem Opus.
